Upon contact with a bleeding wound or body fluids contained in the covering layer of the plate and the coagulation factors — fibrinogen, thrombin etc. — are released under the action of thrombin, fibrinogen is transformed into fibrin, Aprotinin inhibits plasmin and inhibits fibrinolysis, is formed a solid clot. The plate itself dissolves and later (3-6 weeks) replaced by connective tissue.
