STRESAM® (Etifoxine, Etafenoxine, Strezam) is an anxiolytic. A benzoxazine derivative has an anxiolytic activity and has a mild sedative effect. It selectively impacts chloride channels of supramolecular GABA-benzodiazepine receptor complex. Stresam does not cause addiction and does not have withdrawal effects.

DESCRIPTION

The active substance of Stresam is etifoxine hydrochloride. It alleviates anxiety, tension, promotes sedation and has a calming effect without affecting clarity of consciousness or neurologic conditions. Its effect is similar to other benzodiazepine drugs but it is more effective and has fewer side effects. Stresam produces its anxiolytic effects by binding to &beta2 and &beta3 subunits of the GABA receptor complex and so is acting at a different target site.

PACKAGING & DOSAGE

Stresam comes in gelatine capsules. One pack contains 60 pills of 50mg each.

The dose and duration of treatment is determined individually depending on the condition.

The recommended dose is 50mg (1 pill) 3 times a day or 100mg (2 pills) 2 times a day.

The course of treatment typically lasts from 2-6 weeks.

Pills to be taken orally with water.
