PANTOCALCIN® is a central nervous system depressant. It has a broad range of actions due to the presence in its structure of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) which acts directly upon GABA-B-receptor-channel complex. Pantocalcin is used to treat variety of neurological, psychological and psychiatric conditions such as cognitive impairment in children and adolescents, epilepsy, schizophrenia, decreased mental and physical activity. Pantocalcin has stimulating effect on the central nervous system, enhances mental activity, reduces motor anxiety.

?DESCRIPTION

Pantocalcin is nootropic agent that has neuroprotective and anticonvulsant effects. Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), an active substance of Pantocalcin, crosses the blood-brain barrier and has a pronounced effect on the central nervous system functional activity. It protects CNS neurons and increases brain resistance to hypoxia and toxic agents exposure, stimulates anabolic processes in neurons, reduces the excitability of the motor, normalizes GABA metabolism in chronic alcohol intoxication and after ethanol withdrawal, causes inhibition of pathologically elevated cystic reflex and detrusor tone. PACKAGING & DOSAGE

Active substance: hopantenic acid (hopantenic acid calcium salt)

Excipients: hydroxycarbonate magnesium calcium stearate talc potato starch



Pantocalcin is taken orally 15-30 minutes after meals. Adult single dose is 250-1000mg, daily - 1500-3000mg children single dose is 250-500mg, daily - 750-3000mg. Duration of treatment is 1-4 month, sometimes up to 6 months. If it is required repeat the second course of treatment in 3-6 months.



Children: Mental disorder: recommended dose is 500mg 4-6 times per day for 3 months.

Delayed speech development: recommended dose is 500mg 3-4 times per day for 2-3 months.



Extrapyramidal neuroleptic syndrome: adults - 500-1000mg 3 times per day for 1-3 months children - 250-500mg 3-4 times per day for 1-3 months.



Epilepsy: adults - 500-1000mg 3-4 times per day children - 250-500mg 3-4 times per day for a long period (up to 6 months).



Hyperkinesia (ticks): adults - 150-300mg/day for 1-5 months children - 250-500mg 3-6 times per day for 1-4 months.



Urination disorder: adults - 500-1000mg 2-3 times per day children - 250-500mg per day from 2 weeks to 3 months.



Consequences of neuroinfections and traumatic brain injury: 250mg 3-4 times per day.&dagger
