Oxytocin 5IU/ml 1ml 5 ampoules

The composition and form of issue:

1 vial with 1 ml solution for injection contains oxytocin 5 UNITS in a contour acheikova package 5 PCs. or in the pan 5 PCs., complete with ampule knife, in a cardboard bundle 2 pallets.

Pharmacological action:

Increases permeability membrane potassium ions, reduces the resting potential and increases the excitability of cells of the myometrium. Causes strong contractions of the muscles of the uterus (especially pregnant), increases the secretion of milk, has a mild antidiuretic effect.

Indications:

Stimulation of labor activity, prevention and treatment of hypotonic uterine bleeding in the postpartum period, hypogalactia postpartum, stimulation of uterine contractions postpartum and cesarean section (after extracting the fetus).

Contraindications:

Threatening rupture of the uterus, transverse and oblique fetal position, disproportion between the size of the fetal head to the size of the pelvis of the uterus, suspected premature placental abruption, intrauterine fetal hypoxia, the presence of scarring in the uterus.

Side effects:

Hypertonicity of the uterus, intrauterine fetal hypoxia, premature detachment of the placenta, uterine rupture, urine retention.

Drug interactions:

Enhances the effect of sympathomimetics (used with caution).

Method of application and dose:

V/m or V/V.

Induction of labor: V/m, 0,5–2 U, if necessary, repeat injection every 30-60 min.

For in/drip in the introduction of 1 ml of the preparation diluted in 500 ml 5% glucose solution. Introduced, starting with 5-8 drops/min, if necessary, the rate of administration increases, but not more than 40 drops/min.

Prevention of hypotonic uterine bleeding: in/m, 3-5 MEALS 2-3 times a day for 2-3 days.

Treatment of hypotonic uterine bleeding: in/m, 5-8 MEALS 2-3 times a day for 3 days.

Caesarean section (after removal of the placenta): in the wall of the uterus, 3-5 UNITS.

Precautions:

Should be used only under the control of uterine activity, fetal condition, blood pressure and General condition of the woman. Be wary combine with sympathomimetics.
