Description pharmaceutical form:

Ointment for external use white or light-yellow uniform.

Corticosteroids for local use.

Description pharmacological action:

When applied to the skin surface the drug has a rapid and strong effect in the inflammation, reducing the severity of objective symptoms (erythema, edema, lichenification) and the subjective sensations (itching, irritation, pain).

Indications:

Dermatoses responsive to topical therapy of corticosteroids in children older than 6 months and adults, including with localization on the face and anogenital region:

  • dermatitis atopic, allergic and contact, solar
  • eczema
  • psoriasis
  • allergic reactions to insect bites.

Contraindications:

  • hypersensitivity to alclometasone or to any excipients of the drug
  • tuberculosis skin
  • cutaneous manifestations of syphilis
  • varicella
  • viral infection of the skin, skin post-vaccination reactions
  • open wounds, trophic ulcers
  • rosacea, acne vulgaris.

Application of pregnancy and breast-feeding:

The use of the drug in pregnant Afloderm allowed in cases where the assessment of the attending physician the potential benefit to a pregnant prevails over possible risk to the fetus. In these cases, the application should be short and limited to small areas of skin. Evidence of teratogenic effects not available.

The use of the drug Afloderm creams and ointments may in nursing mothers. Necessary precautions when using the drug in nursing mothers, in particular, the drug should not be applied to the skin of the breast before feeding.

Side effects:

Side effects when applied topically to alclometasone develop infrequently and are reversible.

Rarely, as the use of other GCS, in 1-2% of patients may develop a hypersensitivity reaction (itching, burning, redness, or dryness of the skin as well as irritation and rashes in the form of papules). Very rarely acne-like changes, hypopigmentation, miliaria, folliculitis, striae, skin atrophy, hypertrichosis, allergic contact dermatitis and secondary skin infections.

In the case of development of hypersensitivity reactions or side effects therapy should be discontinued and consult a doctor.

Method of application and dose:

Externally. Afloderm in the form of cream is recommended for the treatment of acute inflammatory diseases of the skin including accompanied by the development of soak, and also for the treatment of inflammation of the skin of the scalp.

Afloderm in the form of an ointment intended for the treatment of subacute and chronic dermatoses, including dry, lichenizirovannah and scaly lesions, or in those cases where it is necessary occlusal action of ointment.

Cream or ointment is applied uniformly in a thin layer to affected skin 2-3 times a day. In areas with more dense skin (e.g. elbows, hands and feet), as well as places from which the drug is easy to wash, Afloderm can be applied more frequently. Children and the period of follow-up care — 1 time a day. For relapse prevention in the treatment of chronic diseases therapy should be continued for some time after disappearance of all symptoms.

Special instructions:

The preparation is intended for external use only.

Like other local GCS, drug Afloderm cannot be applied to the skin in the eye area (due to possible development of glaucoma and cataracts), as well as on the wound surface.

If the disease complicated by the development of secondary bacterial or fungal infection, drug therapy of Afloderm you need to add specific antibacterial or antimycotic agent.

Application in Pediatrics. The product can be used in children of early age. When used under occlusive dressings, soft diapers, and if necessary, prolonged use, consult a doctor.

Effects on ability to drive vehicles and mechanisms. Data on the effects of the drug Afloderm on the ability to drive vehicles and mechanisms do not exist.
